Prerequisite: Abide to all references of quality and/or standards that are laid out in different areas of service provision that meet the safety, operational and commercial objectives of the Airline.

A. SCOPE

The Communications Manager is responsible for planning, development and implementation of all the Company’s communication strategies and public relations activities both external and internal. Breakdown the business strategy and effectively enable each employee to take ownership and implement the Company’s values, vision and mission on a daily basis. Facilitate relations of cooperation and trust between internal and external stakeholders.

B. THE ROLE

The Communications manager is responsible for internal and external communications in order to promote the company and its products.

To ensure external communication, he/she must:

Develop and implement an annual communications and public relations plan which will focus on meeting Company objectives.
Ensure articulation of the Company’s desired image and position, assure all communication, internal and external, is of high standard and consistent with Camair Co’s strategy and visual identity.
Act as the Company’s representative with the media, coordinate media interest, ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests
Develop a relationship with all relevant media news contacts in order to achieve proactive press coverage for the airline brand, personnel and products at every opportunity.
Gain regular press coverage on corporate activities such as route launches, promotions, ad sponsorship through the distribution of press releases.
Oversees the installation and implementation of press kits, sales brochures, the company newspaper, annual report, posters etc.
Develop and implement an events and sponsorship strategy in line with the marketing and business strategy of the airline
Manage internal/external campaign communication, newsletters, fares, products/services changes in collaboration with marketing manager.
Develop and implement a crisis management programme for the airline in the event of any negative media coverage. Identify key spokespeople for the airline and be prepared to brief them at short notice.
Develop and maintain a good line of communication with the key aviation press contacts in order to encourage regular and positive media coverage within the industry.
Monitor key competitor press activity and report to management on a regular basis.
Identify opportunities to allow the airline to take the high ground on matters of aviation and business innovation, quality and standards.
Coordinate and execute product familiarization trips
Develop short and long term plans and budgets for communications/public relations programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
To ensure internal communication, he/she must:

Define the internal Communication policy to ensure the integrity of the company
Develop the internal Communication strategy
Supervise the production of in-house communication materials
Ensure that management is regularly aware of media attention and provide a media cuttings pack for circulation.
Coordinate the appearance of all company’s electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures etc.
Prepare activity report to the Executive Director
Formulate the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
Liaise with all departments in the planning and preparation of the business continuity plan and procedures.

Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills.

F. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

A degree in Public Relations, Communications or Journalism.
A minimum of five years’ experience in PR, Communications or Journalism
Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of communications and public relations activities
Demonstrated successful experience in writing press releases, speeches, making presentations and negotiating with media
Experience in print or broadcast journalism is essential
Experience developing and managing budgets
Experience overseeing the design, production of print materials and publications
Experience in an airline company is an asset
Fluency in French and English is essential

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Intranet, Publisher
